While I was on tour I had a phone convo with Dem Jointz about this song. He said “Yo I just came up with this crazy song for Rihanna!” He sang me the lyrics “Suck my cockiness lick my persuasion…” Immediately I was like OMG O_o!! “That’s a little risqué, but I bet she’d be into it.”  He later told me everyone thought the song (which he also helped produce) was WAY too much and that he should write something different to the beat. Candice his writing partner thought the song was an immediate hit so they decided to finish the idea and the rest is….history. WOW.

I have to say (again) I’m so proud of the work that DJ has put in. The world has no clue what this talented producer/songwriter/vocal arranger/engineer is capable of.  And they also don’t realize how much of his personal sound is all over this record. Anyone who has worked with him or has heard his extensive catalog knows that this track screams Dem Jointz. To say I am happy for him would be an understatement. Even happier that an international superstar like Rihanna has brought this song to life. I’m so privileged to have the opportunity to work with and learn from him. I keep feeling the need to shed a light on this dude because he is one of the most humble people I know and he deserves some shine.

So as he would say…”One more time for the hood!!” I want to say…CONGRATS DJ!!! We’re all so happy for you!! You’re an inspiration to all of us who know you. Keep shining, the future is blinding. Compton’s in the house! hahaha

Just another example of what happens when you trust yourself and your vision. God gave you the gift. Don’t be afraid to use it.
